WHAT IS THE ROLE OF
SELECTION IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT?
Selection
in human resource management is the same as recruitment. It is the method by
which the human resources (HR) section of an organization finds and recruits
employees to fill identified vacancies within the company. The role of
screening relates to its use as a tool for locating and screening candidates to
fill vacancies within the organization. Selecting the right candidates is
crucial to the success of an organization because the workforce or workforce
that has the right qualities will help ensure that an organization achieves its
goals and targets.
One
of the roles of screening in human resource management is to ensure that
potential employees possess the stated qualities that have been listed in the
recruitment policy of the organization. For example, if a financial
organization has established a policy of only recruiting people who have
finished in the top three of their business class, then this is an
organizational recruiting requirement. Another example is a law firm that only
employs law graduates who have distinguished themselves in one way or another
during their internship. One of the ways a company defines the qualities it
uses in the selection process is by establishing a company culture. The human
resources department tries to identify potential employees who have the same
ideals or qualities that will make them fit into the culture already in place.
The
recruitment process generally includes the advertisement of vacancies by the
human resources department. It can do this by running advertisements in various
media or other sources. Sometimes the organization may prefer to promote
internal candidates to fill vacancies. In such a situation, the Company may
issue an internal notice or place an enforcement notice on bulletin boards or
on the Company's website. The Human Resources department will accept and review
applications, maintain contact with candidates during the selection process,
and notify successful and unsuccessful candidates of their positions.
The
human resources department must also often perform background checks on
candidates and conduct psychological tests which may include questions aimed at
finding out if the candidate is a good fit for the position. The department
might also perform physical exams that may include drug tests. He will also
check the references provided by the candidate. When the human resources
department has completed the screening process, the final decision on whether
candidates will be hired may rest with managers or board members, depending on
the type of job under consideration.

DeleteOrganizations must have effective HR policies in place to ensure that the right individual is hired for each job, whether from within or outside the firm. Finding and selecting the best candidate for the job is important and difficult. The new selection should not disrupt the company's current productivity levels and should instead increase productivity to achieve the goals of a company. good luck
